Safeguarding

We teach people who are sometimes under 18, and we work one to one. This page sets out how we keep that safe. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you book.

Who we are

Third Manning is run by two paramedics registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. We are bound by the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics in this work as in any other.

Disclosure and Barring Service checks

Both tutors hold a current enhanced DBS check. We will confirm the certificate details to a parent or carer on request before a booking involving anyone under 18.

Students under 18

• A parent or carer must give consent before we teach anyone under 18, and must provide a contact address and telephone number.
• A parent or carer is welcome to be present, or in the room next door, for any session.
• We will not arrange sessions directly with a student under 18 without that consent in place.

How sessions are conducted

• Sessions take place over video on a link issued by our booking system. We do not move sessions to personal accounts or social media.
• We contact students through the email address given at booking. For students under 18 we copy in the parent or carer.
• Sessions take place at the booked time, in an appropriate setting, with both parties visible.

Recording

We sometimes record mock interviews, because watching yourself back is the most useful part of the exercise. We will only ever do this with explicit consent given at the time of booking, and for a student under 18 that consent comes from the parent or carer. Recordings are shared with you and then deleted. You may decline, and it will not affect the session.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about the conduct of either tutor, contact us directly in the first instance. You can also contact the HCPC, which regulates us, or your local authority safeguarding team. If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact the police on 999.

If we have a concern

If we believe a student is at risk of harm, we have a professional duty to act on it. Where it is safe and appropriate to do so we will tell you first, but we cannot promise to keep that kind of information confidential.
